Job Description

The Secure Web Applications Team is key in delivering the financial services and tools to our customers. This dedicated team is a dynamic, cross-functional unit focused on highly collaborative interactions delivering solutions for digital features for our customers. The Technical Lead in this team is a key member responsible not only for helping develop the solutions and standards within the team but also the team itself, through providing technical leadership and mentoring to team members. The MyOldMutual Program is customer-centric and results-driven, with our adoption of cloud-based technologies and embracing new ways of work, setting us apart. Our technology stack is comprehensive and spans multiple digital platforms, e.g. mobile app, secure and public websites, USSD and WhatsApp.

As a member of this team you will be:

Developing technical specifications and software application architectures for enabling secure services on the web platform.

Support junior developers where required through thought leadership and mentoring.

Contribute to the technical roadmap and vision.

Research, assess programming related advances and playback to team members.

Create and test software prototypes.

The ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues.

Working with a team building software in an agile manner.

Comfortable with pair programming.

Tools, skills and qualifications we are looking for:

Matric certificate with relevant tertiary qualification.

3+ years of experience in web application development.

Front-end development experience.

Background in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript and Vue.js.

Background in relational and document-based databases is important (Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Postgres etc).

Cloud-based experience is key; AWS is an advantage but any cloud background with containerization is a bonus.

Experience in data visualization, specifically visualizing the status of APIs is important using tools like Datadog, Grafana or similar toolchains.

Test-driven development is one of our key practices.

Performance testing (Locust, Jmeter, Gatling etc).

Static code analysis and coding standards (Linting).

Contract testing (e.g. Postman, Newman)

Continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) are required.

Experience with Kubernetes is an added advantage.
