LECTURER IN PSYCHOLOGY

Responsibilities
The incumbent will be expected to engage in:
- Teaching, curriculum development and co-ordinating programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Supervising postgraduate research commensurate with the post level;
- Supervising practical work in the MA (Counselling Psychology) programme;
- Conducting research commensurate with the level of appointment and actively contributing to the Departments research profile;
- Performing various academic and administrative duties as determined by the Head of Department;
- Participating in the Departments strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research and community engagement.
- Transdisciplinary approaches in teaching and research
- A Masters degree in Counselling Psychology;
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Counselling Psychologist for at least three years;
- Evidence of research productivity (e.g. publications in peer-reviewed journals)
- Significant progress with PhD studies.
- Professional practice experience,
- Ability to train student psychologists and supervise their practical work,
- Ability to train student psychologists in at least one of the following psychotherapeutic modalities: psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, systems therapy or solution-focused therapy,
- Ability to lecture in at least two, but preferably more, of the following areas: introductory psychology, biological psychology; cognitive psychology, psychological assessment, social psychology, developmental psychology; critical psychology; community psychology.
- A PhD in Psychology,
- A research focus aligned with the departmental thematic areas,
- Experience in lecturing or professional training and supervision of student psychologists,
- Experience in lecturing student psychologists in psychodiagnostics and psychopathology.
- A comprehensive and updated Curriculum Vitae
- Certified copies of qualifications
- A brief self-evaluation by the candidate
- The candidates envisioned contribution to the Department
- Details of three contactable referees, including referees who can attest to the candidates academic (teaching and research) qualities.
