To provide maintenance leadership for yellow machine fleet, slag dumps and dams infrastructure. To improve on availabilities and utilisations of yellow machine fleet. To continuously improve on site materials handling activities via systems available. To ensure that material handling services and water treatment at the environmental dams are managed efficiently for the Smelter.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
- Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
- Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
- Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
- Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
Manage The Section
- Provide leadership at the Diesel Workshop, Central Transport and Dams teams with the assistance of the relevant Supervisor
- Ensure an enabling industrial relations climate/culture
- Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover:
- Assist the Superintendent and Supervisor of the area to keep the teams motivated and engaged
- Labour complement in line with budget
- Achieve HDSA/ Female targets for the Section
- Manage performance against set targets and competencies
- Ensure IDPs are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
- Ensure the teams are aligned with the Smelter and section strategy via Mini Business Area and section KPI tracking
- Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
- Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
- Conduct recruitment interviews
- Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
- Chair disciplinary hearings when required
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction
- Resolve Customer Complaints
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and relevant plant departments (Furnaces, Finance and Raw Materials etc.)
- Optimize equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety
- Prevent breakdowns to improve reliability, availability, and operational stability. Focus on increasing predictive and preventative based maintenance activities
- Analyses and Continuous Improvement: Actively drive Defect Elimination and Continuous Improvement by involving employees and using maintenance analysis processes and tools. Processes and systems to build a culture that continually identify, prioritise and implement asset management improvements are applied
- Proactively highlight concerns to management regarding yellow machine performance
- Monitor and control costs according to budget planning
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of key contractors on site
- Oversee Fuel Management System and allocate diesel consumption and costs
- Conduct quality inspections on Surface Mobile Equipment and component repairs at the Diesel Workshop and suppliers
- Oversee warranty claims
- Conduct regular plant inspections to ensure compliance to standards
- Supervise maintenance of the workshop infrastructure
- Adhere to Maintenance Schedule
- Supervise Planned/ Preventive Maintenance schedule
- Ensure adherence to Planning Degree targets
- Provide inputs to the Maintenance Strategy
- Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings
- Perform Pareto analysis, correlation analyses and report top 5 chronic losses
- Track Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) results
- Provide inputs to SAP Master Data
- Oversee yellow machine spares and key rotables stock management
- Report Maintenance Measures
- Conduct time-based studies to improve efficiency of logistics of operations
- Ensure section KPIs are managed on quality and quantity
- Ensure that SOPs are relevant according to practices
- Drive RCFA/Proactive SIRs in sections
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers such as Bell and CAT
- Oversee Maintenance and operations of Environmental Dams infrastructure
- Comply with environmental regulations
- Make presentations to senior management when required (Incident reports, RCFAs, Continuous Improvement Initiatives)
- 5S Management
- Adhere to all related SOPs, PTOs, and CTOs as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards
- Participate in Logistics Senior standby
- Act in a higher level as and when required
- Approve and authorise workflow
- Work overtime as and when required
- Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
- Initiate and implement the integration of improvement projects
- Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 4 years relevant C-Upper experience (internal candidates)
- 6 years relevant experience (external candidates)
- Valid Drivers License (minimum B/ Code 8)
- Computer Literacy (MS Office)
- Maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment
- Logistics experience in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience on CAT and Bell yellow machines will be advantageous
- SAP PM Module & COUPA
