The position
As a Regional Medical Advisor, youll build critical relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers, expanding your reach to a multidisciplinary team of potential role players in the management of obesity pushing for better clinical outcomes for people living with obesity. Youll engage in scientific dialogue on the disease area and demonstrate the benefits of key products with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and relevant associations, providing medical information and coordinating educational workshops, round tables, medical forums, and discussing role of pharmacotherapy in guidelines, etc. all to help transform the treatment of millions of people living with obesity around the world.
Youll leverage your knowledge of various diseases linked with obesity, while going out of your comfort zone to find creative ways and non-conventional methods to interact with and engage HCPs to highlight obesity as a chronic disease that needs a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
Most importantly, youll use your extensive scientific expertise to communicate with healthcare providers and change the story of obesity for good.
This role directly reports to Head of Medical Affairs and will be located in Johannesburg, with the geographical scope of the role extending to the whole of South Africa.
What Youll Get To Do In This Role
- Build your understanding of the landscape of obesity as a chronic disease, as well as various diseases links with obesity and also learn new sciences/areas
- Work with non-conventional methods and find creative ways to interact with and engage healthcare professionals and relevant associations
- Combine scientific expertise, communication skills and business acumen to enhance value and develop collaborative relationships
- Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, funders and associations
- Provide scientific and clinical education to Chief Executives of relevant healthcare institutions, Medical Directors and formulary stakeholders to secure proper access to treatment
Qualifications
To be effective in this role, it is mandatory to have:
- Medical Doctor (preferable) or Masters degree in Life Sciences (Medical doctor, Pharmacist, Biochemist) or PHD
- Relevant clinical and/or therapeutic experience is preferred
- Displays business acumen and knowledge around out-of-pocket selling dynamics, based on experiences such as participation in formulary process decisions
- Expertise in the cardiometabolic space or adjacent area
- Exceptional communication skills
- Focused on being one team and have an all hands-on deck mentality
- Self-confident, able to influence and be credible to different stakeholders, with an effective communication
- Proactive with a self-starter approach
