Our client in the mining industry is looking for a Mine Manager with at least 10 years of experience in mining.
- Managing the load & haul section so that planned production is achieved and ensuring that drilling and blasting are achieved safely and cost-effectively.
- Ensure that loading equipment is operated effectively and safely.
- Design, analyze, and monitor load & haul and drilling reports to give feedback to the team to improve performance.
- Follow budgeting guidelines and bring about necessary changes to curb costs
- Conform to government guidelines in terms of safety by continuously updating load & haul and blasting procedures.
- Manage and assess staff progress and recommend newer methods through researching markets and government guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of reports before submission to DMRE and summarize progress reports for management and client staff.
- Provide direct management of the site operations, which include resource and reserves management, all mining-related activities, ore blending, and equipment maintenance.
- Participate with other technical and engineering sections to set production goals and coordinate with the technical department to reduce ore contamination.
- Develop and execute short and intermediate-term strategies that support the growth of the operation.
- Maintain quality drilled holes and pre-splits by loading to the correct floor elevations and designing drilling and blasting blocks.
- After-blast audit (MF, cracks, and fragmentation) and remedial actions.
- Highwall scaling and control in line with Geotechnical expectations.
- Coordinate with the Rock Engineering specialist to assess drilling areas in line with structural variations i.e., Geological features.
- Support, lead and supervise drilling, loading & hauling personnel and recommend optimization technologies.
- Coordinate with explosives material suppliers and blasting contractor
- Track and guide work and performance of drilling and blasting team and peer mining groups.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or an Equivalent Qualification
- At least +10 years of mining experience in open cast mining in a senior role (Loading / Hauling, Drilling, and Blasting).
- Blasting Engineering qualifications with an emphasis on open pit
- Mine manager's certificate of competence
