Description Of Position

The client is looking for a talented and driven Network Engineer with 4 - 5 years of experience to join their team. The role of the Network Engineer is to establish structure and oversee the technical functions and duties of the networking team. The primary objective is to manage the team's operational activities while keeping an architectural perspective. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the installation, maintenance, and support of network equipment such as routers, switches, appliances, and related monitoring and management tools. This position demands a combination of technical know-how, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive mindset to ensure the stability and reliability of their network services.

Knowledge And Skills
  • Mentor and coach junior staff, providing technical guidance and leading network projects confidently.
  • Quickly identify and resolve network issues, analyse root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Manage time efficiently.
  • Take ownership of projects and drive them to completion.
  • Provide excellent support and service to both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain attention to detail and work well under pressure.
  • Willing to work overtime and be on standby occasionally.
  • Hold a valid unendorsed driver's license (Code 8 minimum).
Operational
  • Plan, deploy, and maintain a hybrid networking infrastructure.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Complete documentation as required (e.g. Incident Reports).
  • Ensure all DR plans are accurate, maintained, and adjusted where necessary.
  • Technical lead for network incidents.
Architectural Design
  • Maintain configuration standards and best practices for the network environment.
  • Ensure cross-skilling of technical expertise.
Technical Scheduling
  • Ensure that all third parties complete all calls and tasks timeously and escalate to the Network Manager at signs of call breaching.
Qualifications Required
  • Tertiary qualification or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Cisco certification (CCNA/CCNP).
Experience Required

Minimum of 4 - 5 years in network support.
