Purpose of Job
Efficient operation of the plant. Adhere to all safety regulations and work standards. Comply with legal requirements and be prepared to do physical work as stipulated in the job description. Process controller reporting to dayshift Foreman and adhere to Foreman reasonable and safe instructions. Adhere to all safety regulations and work standards. Practice good housekeeping, plant cleaning. Comply with legal requirements. Report incidents and near misses. The successful candidate must be willing to work shifts. The successful candidate will be required to do shift cover duties and work overtime (in accordance with legislation). Active participation in Behaviour Based Safety, IMS inspections and SHE representative roles. Physically monitor production processes. Completion of checklists (safety, start up, shutdown, etc). Work in a dust environment and within legislation. Conduct physical work.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Physically support the Artisan to monitor production processes on plant and DCS. Support Artisan with issuing of permit (including safe making) and pre-task risk assessments. Conduct visual inspections on the process equipment and load defects on SAP. Complete all required log sheets and logbooks on the plant. Conduct safety management system inspections e.g. OSHA, ISO 14000/18000/9001.
Report process deviations to the Foreman. Compile relevant area shift report during and before end of shift. Report incidents and near misses. Report all risk behaviours and unsafe conditions to Foreman/Line Manager. Adhere and apply standard operating procedures and work instructions. Conduct basic fault finding and possible solutions. Assist service provider with cleaning activities on the plant. Attend shift SHE safety meetings. Active participation in Behaviour Based Safety, IMS inspections and SHE representative roles. Must be able to work under pressure. Work together with other departments to ensure plant is operational.
Formal Education
Grade 12 or N3 with English, Maths and Science.
NQF level 2 Chemical Operations Occupational.
Min Experience
Experience in a production environment (Must)
Related exposure and experience in the Steam Stations environment (Must)
Experience within a petro-chemical / chemical industry will be an advantage
Be able to work in a dusty/ash slurry environment (get dirty).
Must be physically fit
Valid drivers licenses (Must).
