The key purpose of this role is to carry out beer process development work for projects (scoping, costing and design) and ongoing design management support to the implementation team as required. Lead the development of projects ensuring that business requirements are met while supporting the delivery of ABInBev strategic priorities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leads the Design Management enabled by planning and organizing the engineering and design work for the project. Oversees, directs and coordinates this work.
- Understands and implements all design, technical specifications and engineering requirements for projects from concept to detailed design (FEP 0 to FEP3) level of detail so that RFQs can be prepared and detailed design supported.
- Provide high level process scopes and budget in consultation with the Global, Zone and regional teams for annual 3YP planning purposes.
- Review existing Brewery Installations and make recommendations to simplify and modernize as required so that safety, maintenance and energy usages are optimized/improved.
- Actively review State of the Art equipment solutions available on the market with a view to implementing them in cases where there is a compelling business case.
- Ensures that FEP3 designs are implemented in the project Build Phase according to Global Technical Standards and any significant changes that may affect quality, cost, time or outputs are documented and approved via the project management system with decision support notes.
- Review and approve beer process specifications that form part of OEM equipment supply.
- Participate as required in the technical supplier adjudications to assist with appropriate appointments that meet the Companies operational performance, usage and safety KPIs.
- After supplier appointments have been made, provide support to the Implementation team to ensure that detailed process integration work can be carried out between the various contractors.
- In conjunction with the rest of the Development team, review and optimize plant layouts, to ensure lowest cost installation and operation of process equipment. Enable a Fit for Purpose mindset to the design review process.
- Participate and/or arrange for suitably qualified process personnel to participate in FATs, Hazops, SATs and quality assurance interventions as required.
- Good communicator with the development team to ensure that design requirements are defined timeously by other disciplines to ensure designs are completed on time.
- Process orientated and assertive to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with well proven and established practices and safety requirements.
- Proven experience in solving process project related problems with pragmatic solutions.

- A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science or Brewing/Beverage Science with 8-10 years work experience.
- At least 5 years beverage design experience.
- Design experience with regard to process, mechanical, electrical, automation and controls and civils engineering in a process environment on projects in excess of $20m.
- Solid understanding of project management tools and techniques such as PMBOK.
- Experience in plant operations and optimization.
- Good understanding of best-in-class process solutions and able to technically review and accurately adjudicate pros and cons of contractor's bids.
