Position of the job in the organisation:
This person will report to the Head of Group Finance.
Principal responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and grow the procurement, logistics and warehouse (PLW) team, partners, and suppliers.
- Define, communicate, and implement procurement and logistics standard processes.
- Ensure cost-effective purchase of all materials and services through negotiation and develop procurement strategies to align.
- Manage warehouse operations, including organising storage, optimising space utilisation, and implementing efficient workflow processes.
- Review existing contracts with suppliers and vendors for ongoing feasibility.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers.
- Expand the team as necessary to meet growing demands.
- Meet sourcing and delivery objectives and requirements.
- Approve purchase orders and confirm delivery of goods and services.
- Develop and maintain suppliers' quality, cost, timing, and technology expectations.
- Monitor supplier financial performance and manage credit risk.
- Issue purchase orders and lump-sum payments timely.
- Ensure all orders are delivered within SLA.
- Perform risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
- Manage both internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand, document, and forecast external factors influencing procurement.
- Apply business acumen and finance knowledge for accurate sourcing decisions.
- Control the procurement budget and promote long-term savings.
- Oversee IT systems tracking shipments, inventory, and supply of goods.
- Prepare procurement and logistics reports.
- Coordinate and conduct stock takes to ensure accurate inventory management regularly and for auditing purposes.

Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with at least two years in a management role.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to drive cost savings without compromising quality or performance.
- Experience working with ERP/CRM systems and procurement software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including motivating and developing a high-performing team.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions and solve complex problems.
- Valid driver's license and willing to travel.
- Experience in renewable sourcing technologies, including panels and inverters.
- Able to effectively multitask and meet strict deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing procurement activities for solar PV projects or related industries.
- In-depth knowledge of solar PV technology, components, and supply chain dynamics.
By month 3:
- I can manage my team with monthly 1:1s.
- Successfully familiarised myself with the departmental processes and established strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Identified areas for potential cost savings and initiated discussions with suppliers for negotiations.
- Understand the warehouse management procedures.
- Successfully manage all facets including ordering, receiving, processing, recording and distributing supplies and materials; preparing and maintaining detailed records and files.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilising ERP/CRM systems and procurement software.
- I am conducting 1:1 meetings and quarterly reviews for my direct reports, providing guidance and support to the procurement team, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Implemented cost-saving strategies resulting in measurable improvements in procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Developed a comprehensive procurement, warehousing and logistics plan for upcoming projects.
- Achieved significant cost reductions while maintaining or improving quality standards across the supply chain.
- Successfully managed procurement activities for multiple solar PV projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components.
- Established the company as a leader in sustainable procurement practices within the renewable energy sector.
- Successfully have completed a stock take/audit with minimal variances.
- Implemented continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights, optimising procurement processes for long-term success.
