ADP Marine and Modular (a wholly owned subsidiary of Lycopodium) is seeking Project Engineers to join our team in Cape Town.
Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Project Engineer provides technical assistance in the planning, designing, evaluating, executing and handover of the assigned projects in accordance with Company, Client and Project requirements.
Tasks you will perform (include but are not limited to):
- Assisting with ensuring compliance with the project specific requirements and current industry work codes and standards.
- Contributing to project control activities including scheduling, forecasting and other deliverables to a consistently high standard.
- Assisting with and perform procurement, inspection and expediting activities.
- Carrying out assigned project activities, including site engineer duties, in a manner that priorities safety, environment, community and industrial relations.
- Assisting the Project Manager in developing and maintaining the project quality management facility to ensure project quality targets and reporting are met.
- Contributing to the preparation of construction reports, contracts and schedules, managing tender and contract documentation for review in accordance with quality assurance.
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years postgraduate experience in a similar position, preferred
- Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables, within budget and schedule constraints.
- Demonstrate proficiency with the Microsoft suite of software packages, including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
- Demonstrate ability to and/or proficiency in the use of specific proprietary software packages relevant to the Engineering discipline; specifically for scheduling and cost control.
- Demonstrate knowledge of contract standards and a sound background in contract administration duties.
- Technical background with a broad multi-disciplinary base, preferably in minerals processing plants / infrastructure construction.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently in a team and knowledge sharing environment.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a practical approach to solving engineering problems.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
- Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
- High degree of professional ethics.
- Ability to travel and work away from home for extended periods.
