Job Advert Summary

Hello an exciting new opportunity has just become available in our Insure Risk & Underwriting in the Risk Improvement area. We are looking to recruit a Risk Administrator.

Role Objectives
  • Responsible for the protection of Hollard Insure from over exposure from a risk management
perspective by conducting accurate risk assessments as well as the submission of accurate MPL

(maximum probable loss) scenarios and risk reports
  • Enhance the image of the company through the continuous delivery of efficient and effective
customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate risk, evaluate loss potential, and make recommendations for risk improvements where necessary. Provide surveys in South Africa. Ensure that surveys are carried out timeously and professionally (within agreed times).
  • Accountability is limited to carrying out surveys less than the sum insured of R3 million for all risks (R3 -20 million low & Medium risk) within South African borders. Provide complete and professional written reports for Underwriters to have a clear picture of all the risks involved. All survey reports to be completed within acceptable time frames. Interact frequently with colleagues, brokers and the insured in a professional manner
  • Provide feedback on activities undertaken to Central Co-ordinator on daily activities.
  • Recordkeeping to be kept up to date at all times.
  • Continuously build and manage the relationship between Risk consultants & Branch and broker
network

When required perform any other duties necessary for the operational effectiveness of the company that is within your ability and scope
  • Ensure customers are treated fairly and that TCF management is done in conjunction with the
Academy.
  • Maintain a high level of service to customers (internal and external) according to the service
standards as set by the company

Required Knowledge And Experience
  • Advantageous to have 1 - 2 years experience in a Fire Departments Fire Prevention Section dealing explicitly with Building Approvals and Code Compliance
  • Basic knowledge of SABS / SANS 0400 / 10400
  • Basic knowledge of other best practice standards like NFPA, FM Global, etc
  • Basic knowledge of commercial and industrial short-term insurance including:
  • Risk management
  • Claims procedure
  • Insurance terminology
  • Underwriting procedure (ability to interpret policy wording)
  • Reinsurance and treaties
  • Product knowledge
  • Understanding the TCF principles
  • Relationship management skills (have the right approach with the right people)
  • Writing skills (Can express him/herself in a clear way)
  • Accuracy in the capturing of data pertaining to MPLs
  • Demonstrate common sense, self-motivation and discipline
  • Well-presented / representative of Hollards image
  • Visibly demonstrate the Hollard Way
  • Knowledge of MS Office Intermediate level (including Word, Excel)
  • Open to relocation and reassignment within the national branch network
  • Basic negotiation skills
  • Motor bike license
