What will you do?
The Senior Financial Manager will be responsible to support the finance and risk management requirements of both the Platform and Life Investment product ranges.
What will make you successful in this role?
Budgets, targets and cost management
- Creation of annual budgets and targets.
- Responsible for the Finance budget, overseeing the company budget / multi-year plans and advising and implementing best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs.
- Forecasting financial results on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Balance Scorecard measurements manage and ensure the effective preparation and monitoring of performance against target.
- Ensuring operational efficiency and profitability of the business.
- Valuation of non-life business and biannual reporting of ROGEV
- Financial controls
- Pro-active engagement on cost allocation (expense management), Value of new business and Embedded value involvement in general company and Sanlam Group projects, e.g. participation in the IFRS 17 and other transformation projects
- Managing and overseeing the companys financial systems.
- Accurate and up to date reporting to the various Boards.
- Ensure that all accounting activities are in compliance with financial regulations.
- Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
- Managing and overseeing the taxation affairs of the business and liaising with internal tax experts across the Sanlam group for specialist advice.
- Facilitate collaboration across all departments within Glacier and across the Finance community within the greater Sanlam Group.
- Negotiate and influence business, accounting and process rules within the greater Sanlam Group.
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
- Managing the internal and external audit relationship and ensuring the business is compliant with accounting standards.
- Involvement in business-critical projects including overseeing the replacement of the current SAP accounting system.
- Play an integral part in implementing the Finance strategy to support the business strategy.
- Creating a culture of high performing teams, grounded in the core values of the organisation to ensure high employee engagement.
- Promote and uphold the brand, culture and values.
- CA (SA) Qualification, minimum 5 years financial management experience preferably within the Financial Services Industry or;
- B. Com Hons - minimum 10 years financial management experience preferably within the Financial Services Industry
- 2 to 3 years LISP platform and valuations experience would be an advantage
Qualified CA with 5 to 8 years related experience, post articles
