A well-known chemical manufacturing company providing mining /flotation reagents and related chemicals for the mining/mineral processing and related chemical manufacturing industries requires the above to handle all laboratory as well as QA/QC functions for the company. Minimum requirements for the role:
- A science degree or diploma or a BTech in analytical chemistry or related is required for this role.
- Previous experience having worked within a Senior Laboratory Technician role working within a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is preferred.
- Registration with SACI is beneficial but not essential.
- Must have a strong chemistry background and analytical skills.
- Must be a problem solver and team player.
- Must be able and willing to work as part of a team, but also as a self-motivated individual is required.
- Must have strong analytical and computer skills.
- Must have excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Conducting daily routine quality tests of raw materials and finished products chemicals.
- Reporting and compiling customer reports.
- Reporting any deviations/out-of-specification results.
- Liaising and working closely with the R&D laboratory for advanced analysis of chemicals as well as the warehouse and production teams.
- Assisting in providing problem-solving techniques to meet required specs for products.
- Providing monthly reports to the Production Manager, Quality Manager, and Technical Directors on product quality.
- Meeting objectives within the laboratory as set by the manager.
- Ensuring that the test results are captured in the QC system and submitted to the production manager.
- Maintaining housekeeping rules in the laboratory at all times as well as maintaining equipment and their calibration/services as well as maintaining the shelf-life of all records of chemicals within the storeroom.
- Maintaining reagent and consumable stock levels for the laboratory.
- Participating and conducting training on MSDS, chemical handling and chemical storage.
