Job Purpose

The role will be based in Johannesburg and report into the Business Intelligence Executive. The purpose of the role is to provide key support to the business and extract maximum value from the information technology platform, specifically its SAP BW system. Provide first (1st) line SAP BW support, perform BW development, system maintenance and monitoring and assist the business to implement new projects and system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced data analytics and reporting solutions that leverage SAP BW/4HANA and SAC tools

This role requires an individual with solid business knowledge across Finance, Sales and Distribution, Supply Chain, and Operations and the ability to work closely with business stakeholders to deliver insights that support data-driven decisions across various departments, ensuring optimal data management and reporting practices

Data Modeling and Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain complex data models using SAP BW/4HANA to support business reporting needs, ensuring seamless integration with other SAP modules and tools, ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading from various source systems into SAP BW/4HANA

Reporting and Visualization: Develop and optimize custom reports, dashboards, and KPIs using SAP BW/4HANA and SAC

Collaborate with business units to gather reporting requirements and design intuitive, interactive dashboards that deliver actionable insights

Ensure the timely delivery of accurate and consistent data through a combination of traditional and embedded reporting techniques

Utilize SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for advanced visualization and reporting solutions

Business Collaboration and Requirement Gathering: Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the BW team for reporting requirements

Lead requirements gathering sessions to capture the businesss reporting and analytics requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Provide end-user support and training for SAP BW/HANA and SAP Analytics cloud reporting tools to enhance business user capabilities. Resolve calls as logged on service management system within agreed SLA.

System Performance and Optimization: Monitor the performance of SAP BW/4HANA, ensuring data retrieval and reporting processes are efficient and scalable

Identify opportunities for improving system performance and ensuring reporting solutions remain optimized

Troubleshoot issues related to data models, ETL processes, and report generation

Proactively recommend and implement new tools, methodologies, and practices to improve data management and analytics processes

Lead cross-functional data projects and contribute to strategic initiatives focused on expanding the organization's analytics capabilities

The ability to work closely with business stakeholders to deliver insights that support data-driven decisions across various departments, ensuring optimal data management and reporting practices

Manage and coordinate IT related business projects and drive continuous business improvement initiatives

Create / Maintain BW Info Providers and objects across the following SAP modules: SD, MM, FI, CO, CRM and other external systems. Prior knowledge of SAP source items is helpful.

Creation and maintenance of report distribution via APOS and SAP Analytics Cloud

Work with internal teams on Microsoft PowerBI integration and streamline reporting and datasets to allow this. PowerBI knowledge advantageous.

Qualifications And Experience

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required for the Job

Relevant IT/Business educational qualification (BSC, BCOM Degree/ IT Diploma).

Must be Computer literate (MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in SAP BW / BW/4HANA development, design and administration including ABAP.

Exposure to various SAP data sources advantageous.

Skills and Competencies

Strong experience in data modeling, ETL development, and reporting in BW and or BW/4HANA

High skill level in Business Intelligence and Reporting with particular focus on Analysis for Office & SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Solid business knowledge across Finance, Sales and Distribution, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations. Excellent understanding of sales and logistics execution processes

Experience or knowledge of programming in ABAP and/or SQL for BW

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical data to non-technical stakeholders

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Knowledge of management principles and practices.

Development in other BI tools including MS PowerBI advantageous.
