Howden Africa Compressors & Turbines Division is looking for a Service Technician to provide technical, service and aftermarket- customer support during field service activities on various types of compressors, fans, centrifugal, roots type blowers and turbines. Diagnosing machinery, process and operating problems on rotating machinery and auxiliary equipment. The position will be based in Sasolburg.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be
- Perform service/repair on rotational equipmentandmulti-brand compressors; both oil injected and oil free.
- Ability to interpret- understand PID, drawings, manuals etc related to all types of compressors, turbines and blowers.
- Navigate multi-brand compressor controllers to obtain data to assist in troubleshooting.
- Install new equipment (Construction Job Sites, and Retrofits).
- Conduct statutory and insurance examinations on rotational equipment.
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports.
- Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
- Managing of service contracts on customer sites.
- Laser alignment of equipment.
- Commissioning of plant.
- Support workshop associates when required.
- Trade test certificate in Fitting or National Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Must be medically fit to perform duties.
- Must be familiar with job site safety requirements.
- A minimum of 6 years related experience in rotating equipment field..
- High level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to technical problems both mechanical and electrical
- Proficiency in problem solving, process analysis and capacity to troubleshoot.
- Read and comprehend written technical information in the form of technical manuals, drawings, parts books, and relevant publications is essential.
- Computer skill set along with strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A firm commitment to customer service excellence in all circumstances.
- Basic Technical knowledge of Rotating Equipment, Reciprocating Compressors, Gas Compressor Engines & Turbines. Roots and centrifugal blowers.
