Role purpose:
The test engineer is responsible to test and evaluate all customer premises equipment (CPE) to ensure compliance and performance meet requirements. Vendor and internal stakeholder engagement is often required during the evaluation process.
Your responsibilities will include:
CPE testing responsibility which covers both Consumer and Enterprise CPE (including routers and smartphones). Responsible for validating Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and VB OSS systems for CPE.
Create use cases and test scenarios for CPE within the VB product portfolio.
Conduct guided security assessments of CPE as per Vodafone Security Standards.
Help develop and implement new technologies like IOT devices, 5G CPE etc.
Liaise with vendors, internal stakeholders and technical teams to report and resolve CPE defects.
Coordinate and test firmware provided by vendors.
Manage, coordinate and prioritize use case testing and schedules.
Document and update test results.
Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting to management as required.
Represent team in internal and external forums as directed.
Assist with QA and pre-production test orders,
Ability to handle customer critical issues and work in difficult situations
Contribute to meetings and provide team support during planning, feedback and executions.
Coordinate across multiple engineering/development teams as needed.
Serve as a conduit between cross functional teams to ensure requirements and testing considerations/use cases are incorporated to improve deployed services and sustainability of services.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Qualifications:
3-year relevant engineering diploma and,
3-5years relevant experience in a similar role
Desired Skills:
Deep technical understanding of various CPE technologies.
Understanding of mobile communication technology 3G, LTE, 5G
Fibre technology
ISP experience
Network Experience
In-depth understanding of consumer & enterprise routers
IPv4, IPv6, DHCPv4, DHCPv6, ACS, TR069, TR181, TCP, UDP, Wi-Fi, VoIP.
Auto Configuration Servers
PPPoE
LTE
GPON
Report writing.
