Job Description
Responsible Sourcing
- Support change management on Responsible Sourcing into the Supply Chain function.
- Provide input to Category Teams on Human Rights risk mitigation, ensuring integration into supplier management routines and category planning.
- Collaborate with Category Teams to engage with high-risk potential suppliers, supporting supplier due diligence and intelligent analytics of supplier risk.
- Develop and present Sustainable Mining Plan (SMP) and Responsible Sourcing training to internal colleagues and supplier groups.
- Escalate and manage supplier risk identified through due diligence ensuring that category managers and supplier owners have developed adequate strategies for risk mitigation.
- Monitor supplier performance and close-out of high-risk issues through Corrective Action Plans and monitoring audit reports.
- Provide analysis and actionable category insights on risk trends based on supplier due diligence.
- Develop learning materials to support supplier engagement and capacity building.
- Conduct on-site Responsible Sourcing reviews at supplier facilities (checks include human and labour rights, workplace safety and environmental practices).
- Support external disclosures for Supply Chain ensuring integration of salient directional data points into ways of working.
- Provide analysis and actionable insights on supplier emissions and category hotspots through leveraging 3rd party emissions mapping software. Tracking performance improvements with identified material carbon emitting suppliers.
- Contribute to the development of a Supply Chain Community of Practice for Sustainability, through active stakeholder engagement, networking and continuous improvement.
- Develop internal and external facing materials to drive a consistent approach towards decarbonisation e.g. Internal Scope 3 Standard, supplier guidance materials, etc.
- Collate critical Supply Chain data to inform reporting, external benchmarks and emissions baselining for Supply Chain.
- Build capability of Category and Business Unit teams to develop, execute and improve supplier engagement activities on decarbonisation including integration with sourcing strategies.
- Report on supplier performance towards decarbonisation plans and carbon abatement projects.
- Support Category Teams to conclude MOUs with :circa 25 Strategic supplier partners, extrapolating key milestones to track performance.
- Support collation of waste-data and identification of opportunities from Supply Chain procurement activities.
- Work with Category Teams to quantify benefit(s) and execute circularity initiatives.
- Support the Supply Chain Sustainability team to ensure governance for service provider selection, management and contracting.
- Provide change management and advisory support to define new ways of working, enabling systems, tools and templates and advanced analytics to build capability and excellence in sustainability.
- Contribute to the development of sustainability strategy, critical tasks and performance targets for Supply Chain and the broader organisation, and support with implementation where required.
- Ensure sustainability requirements are reflected and embedded in associated Supply Chain processes.
- Conduct broad scanning activities to keep up to date with innovative technologies, approaches and partnership opportunities.
- Compile advisory reports and dashboards to ensure delivery of digital and analytical solutions to achieve our Supply Chain sustainability ambitions.
- Ensure personal and team compliance to internal Anglo American and Supply Chain Governance requirements pertaining to all relevant activities.
- Ensure personal and team compliance to applicable legislative requirements pertaining to all relevant activities in set portfolio.
- Drive own performance management and personal learning.

- Support cross functional team interactions with internal stakeholders to execute purchasing activities.
- Minimum undergraduate qualification - Bachelor degree level or equivalent and proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
- Desirable: A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
- Practical experience in relevant field
- Functional knowledge of Scope 3 emissions, calculations and abatement strategies; added advantage would be on demonstrated integration of decarbonisation initiatives.
- Strong technical knowledge across the Supply Chain value chain, ability to integrate and understand what drives excellence.
