Job Description

You will be responsible for:

• Effective support for the General Manager advising on appropriate actions involving process safety technical aspects of running the operations.
• Accountable to personally advise in seeking sustainable solutions to remediating inefficiencies or mitigating against risk associated with the relevant operations processes.
• Accountable for the implementation and maintenance of a Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the relevant operations process in line with Anglo Platinums Process Safety Management function.
• Interaction with the operations Metallurgical/Technical teams to ensure Process Safety Information is accurate and available.
• Ensure operational teams have understanding of PSM requirements for the relevant operation.
• Manage metallurgical competency in PSM.
• Alignment of operations needs with overall Process and PSM KPIs .
• Alignment of PSM between Maintenance, Production and Technical areas within the operation/(s).
• Alignment of operational needs with centrally directed process development initiatives.
• In the rectification of common and special cause events by applying the Operating Model Principles and conducting Annalise and improve investigations.
• Targets aligned in supporting the Operation to meet its annual and long term operational performance targets as well as fulfilling its strategic intent.
• Ensuring all technical initiative task assignments agreed to with the Operations management, ProcessCo and T&S Commodity Head in terms of strategic intent alignment are delivered on and results are realised.
• The Operation achieves its operational targets in terms of compliance with the PSM standard and specification.
• Regular engagement with Technical Solutions to ensure alignment on key projects.

This role reports to the General Manager and will have Senior Process Engineer, Senior Reliability Engineer, Control Technology Specialist as direct reports.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Relevant BTech or Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical engineering, Chemistry or related science (NQF level 7).
• Professional registration (advantageous)
• Qualifications in Process Safety Management disciplines (advantageous)

Required Experience:

• Extensive technical experience (6 to 10 years) with at least 5 years supporting the relevant Operation
• External commercial experience advantageous, such as Petrochemical, Refinery
• Process safety (advantageous)
• Proven track record in a leadership role
• Strong leader and relationship builder with experience in leading diverse work teams and coaching senior managers.
• Good interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills
