The Technical Operator operates and controls machine processes, implements continuous improvement initiatives, conducts first-line autonomous maintenance, performs problem solving, assists the engineering technician/s during breakdown and routine maintenance, conducts all QC checks in his/her Process Area, and generates and maintains all processing reports and visual management including QC data and downtime records.

Responsible for Process control and efficiencies
- Operate the packaging line equipment and processes to produce packaged products cost-effectively and safely in accordance with agreed line performance and quality conformance standards, while meeting agreed production scheduals.
- Proactively apply their technical, process control, continuous improvement and team development skills to optimize overall line improvement and performance.
- Carry out scheduled first-line maintenance (clean, inspect, lubricate and tighten) in their process area and support maintenance with breakdown tasks and routine maintenance on machinery.make minor adjustments to the machine and replace basic components to maintain line efficiencies and quality standards.Perform defined quality checks for designated process area, monitor and evaluate trends, and initiate corrective actionwhen required.
- Achieve set factory waste reduction and efficiency targets.
- Perform shift handovers regarding the machinery (breakdowns, products run)
- To check the quality of incoming raw materials used in production and also the end product according to the quality control policy. This includes a constant interaction with the Quality Controller.
- Conduct problem-solving analyses and assist with fault finding by supplying relevant factual information relating to the breakdown scenario.
- Select all inputs on the Human Machine Interface (HMI) at the start of the shift and when ever there is a product change
- Capture all downtime by machine
- Prepare the machines and equipment for planned maintenance and assist artisans with their planned maintenance
- Involve Production Shift Supervisor whenever OEE goes into the red-zone.
- Ensure all shopware inbox items are actioned by reviewing the PDCA dashboard
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, food, and environmental standards, including compliance with all Food Safety Policies and Prerequisite Programs (PRPs).
- Enforcement: Enforce all food safety and health regulations, policies, and requirements at all times to guarantee a secure work environment.
- Visitor and Contractor Management: Manage the sign-in, escort, and PPE compliance for own visitors and contractors. Ensure their awareness of hygiene policies and prohibit smoking, eating, or drinking inside the facility.
- Personal Hygiene: Maintain exceptional personal hygiene as per the organizations code of conduct.
- Handwashing Procedures: Supervise staff to ensure proper hand cleaning and sanitization before handling any products.
- Contamination Control: Raise awareness about potential physical product contamination and implement control measures to prevent it.
- Health and Safety Measures: Take reasonable precautions to prevent health and safety hazards. Follow the prescribed incident reporting procedure in case of accidents.
- First Aid Awareness: Ensure own visitors and contractors are aware of on-site first aiders are trained or informed to report injuries and illnesses to supervisors/first aiders.
- Knowledge and Compliance: Stay updated with relevant business information, policies, processes, and procedures. Enforce compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, as well as GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Training: Attend and enforce the implementation of learnings from training sessions related to Quality, Food Safety, and Health and safety.
- Security: Be vigilant about food defence and food fraud risks to safeguard the integrity of products.
- Housekeeping: Maintain high levels of cleanliness and orderliness within the work environment.
- Responsible to ensure housekeeping is effectively performed and ensures that all items are stored within the demarcated areas according to the housekeeping policy (green red and yellow areas)
- Conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedures

- N6 Technical qualification (Mechanical or Electrical), prefered
- 2 - 3 years experience in a manufacturing/FMCG environment
- Experience in a bottling environment is an added advantage
