- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Ensure that each job card is closed off timeously.
- Ensuring that all electrical equipment is in safe working order in line with current regulations.
- Responding quickly to any emergencies.
- Working within a preventive maintenance program that will minimize service repairs in the long run.
- Ensure that the job is complete as per job card requirements.
- Make recommendations for continual improvement and support improvement
- initiatives the company undertakes.
- Any other reasonable task that may be required by management

- Relevant Technical Artisan Qualifications
- Occupational Certificate (Welder) RED SEAL
- 2 Year Proven experience as handyman
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing general maintenance
- Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.
- Knowledge of using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.)
- Ability to follow job and safety instructions
- Ability to work without supervision
