Job requirements:
- Valid, current quarry/open cast blasting license.
- Current First Aid certificate.
- 5 years' experience in electronic timing systems.
- Basic knowledge of surveying.
- Working knowledge of MS Office.
- Fluency in English, Afrikaans and Zulu.
- Schedule A Examine and make safe qualification.
- Magazine master qualificationl Surface blasting licence.
- Code 11 driver's licence.
Job responsibilities:
- Supervise marking and drilling of shot holes according to accepted norms and practices for Quarrying and Surface Blasting.
- Charging up and blasting of shot holes using appropriate means to restrict fly rock and reduce ground vibration to prevent damage to property or persons as per the Explosives Act and Regulations, Minerals & Energy Act & Regulations.
- Carry out drilling and blasting in accordance with the Explosives Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Minerals and Energy in a profitable and expedient manner.l Carry out the duties of magazine master in accordance with the relevant regulations and a view to security at all times.
- Ensure that records are kept in an orderly and up to date manner.
- Adherence to the laws and regulations governing the surface blasting industry and quarry industry at all times.
- Supervise labour in a manner that maintains the dignity of the team under you while ensuring that work is carried out in an effective and efficient manner. Be a link between your team and management so that their needs and aspirations can be brought to managements' attention.
- At all times maintain punctuality, cleanliness of equipment as well as presentability of your team to promote an image of the company as one that provides an efficient, effective service to the industry.
- Training of staff in order to create an overlap of skills.l Compliance with company policies and procedures.
