An exciting new opportunity exists in the MiWay Actuarial team. We are looking for a Junior Personal Lines Underwriter who will contribute to our risk management efforts. If you are a self-motivated individual who is passionate about risk management and has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, we encourage you to apply for this role.
Under general direction, assesses complex situations that involve greatest risk. Provides guidance and assistance to subordinate Underwriters. Within company guidelines, approves or denies applications on own discretion. Selects and accepts major risks on behalf of the company, evaluating proposals rather than mechanistic assessment. May supervise underwriting staff. These responsibilities may be applicable across all industries and disciplines.

Minimum Qualification Required
- Matric
- Applicable post-matric insurance related qualification (advantageous)
- FAIS regulatory exams (RE5 or RE1)
- Where applicable Class of Business or Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or economics (advantageous)
- Proven track record with a minimum of 2 years experience in underwriting, sales, or client services in the short-term insurance industry
- Thorough understanding of personal lines insurance products
