Main Purpose of the Role

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and nurturing relationships with our key accounts, ensuring their logistics needs are met with the highest level of efficiency and professionalism. They are responsible for maintaining the customer relationship, as well as identifying and developing new, additional or extended business opportunities within the existing customer base. The Key Account Manager will develop and build relationships on strategic, tactical and operational levels both with the client and within their organization, and also within the various departments of DSV. Ensuring adequate/excellent service.

Job Related Requirements:

3 - 5 years Key Account Management or Operations experience in the Logistics and international freight forwarding industry with Air and Sea freight imports/exports forwarding, clearing and customs brokerage experience.

Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management

Own vehicle a must, drivers license, ability to travel

Must be neat, well-groomed and have a high standard of business acumen.

Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.

Outstanding Customer relationship skills a necessity

Be fluent in English (written and oral)

Excellent administration and communication skills.

Punctuality and time management skills are essential elements of this position

Additional Computer Skills

Microsoft office / 365, Microsoft Power BI, MS Dynamics or similar CRM system knowledge

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients. Understand their business needs and provide tailored logistics solutions.
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities within key accounts to increase revenue and market share.
  • Work with clients to develop strategic plans that align with their logistics and supply chain objectives.
  • Liaise with internal teams, including operations, customer service, and finance, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Regularly update management on account status, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Stay informed of market trends and competitor activities to proactively adjust account strategies.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring profitability and compliance.
  • To assist in compiling operational SOPs and quality assurance documents where required in conjunction with implementation
  • Presenting and implementing rates increases with clients be they on an annual or ad hoc basis, owning customer profitability for their portfolio.
  • Supply logistical/supply chain related information and/or consultancy as requested by client utilising the various expertise available throughout DSV such as customs consultancy, supply chain analysis, etc.
  • Presenting to and implementing new DSV products, processes and strategies with clients
  • To attend both client and company social events as part of relationship building exercise.
  • Arrange stakeholder discussion sessions to analyse under threat clients as well as those clients where real opportunities exist.
  • Quality checking estimates and estimate process, ensuring they are submitted on time.
  • To organise and run with projects when necessary.
  • Compile and present General Performance Management Reviews including kpi monitoring, shipment stats, financial data and other relevant info such as QVA to certain clients.
  • Compiling, monitoring, and presenting customised client reports as may be required by the client.
  • Ensuring the client is given access to any DSV reports/reporting systems, which may enhance our service offering and customer experience.
  • Attend all relevant assigned company training that enables a professional high standard of account management engagemen
  • Quality checking estimates and ensuring they are submitted on time
  • Compile client specific business reports and quality checking data integrity
  • Identify Opportunities for growth within the clients business
  • Record under threat and lost accounts on CRM system
  • Manage service level agreements through reporting and reviews including identifying exceptions and corrective actions
  • Facilitate rate negotiations and increases
  • Arrange and control customer action plan processes for clients
  • Identify and report on quantified value for clients
  • Take meeting minutes and follow through to close out
  • Manage client debtors to keep within the agreed payment terms and resolve queries in days sales outstanding
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are signed off by the clients, documented and maintained
  • Ensure DSV complies with client health, safety and environment requirements
  • Compile monthly revenue reports for clients and portfolio
  • Co-ordinate available client logistics training
