The primary functions of your role is to provide technical support to both the Senior Chemist and Laboratory Manager in accordance with Company Policies, Procedures and ISO 17025:2017 requirements.

Responsibilities
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Registration and investigation of all issues.
- Investigating all non-conformances related to PT/RR schemes and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and monitored.
- Investigating any repetitive technical problems relating to day-to-day Rustenburg Laboratory analytical procedures or potential technical problems
- Identifying anomalous and detrimental procedural and chemical discrepancies, resolve problems to avoid production of wrong results.
- Carrying out internal quality audits and ensuring that work throughout is followed in accordance to documented methods and procedures.
- Responsible for provision of on the job internal training to all employees and ensure that continuous competency assessments are carried out and gaps are addressed through training.
- Maintaining technical records within the Laboratory.
- Review methods of analysis and standard operating practices.
- Developing, implementation and training of all equipment operating procedures as per equipment/instrument supplier recommendations.
- Developing, validating and reviewing of all analytical procedures in line with best international practices.
- Examine and research the procedures associated with any of the specific jobs in preparation, separation or species measurements through literature reference.
- Providing technical advice and support to the production team as required on technical or related operational problems, leading and guiding in a trouble shooting process.
- Perform all functions of a Technical Signatory as per SANAS guidelines.
- Maintaining the equipment management plan that ensures the availability and performance in a working and calibrated state, organizing robust maintenance and calibrations plans as per equipment supplier recommendations.
- Examine and research the procedures associated with any of the specific jobs in preparation, separation or species measurements.
- To work towards meeting/exceeding assigned and agreed Group Quality objectives and annual KPIs.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
- Good statistical knowledge for data evaluation and validation
- High computer Literacy

- Minimum 5 years experience in a production analytical chemistry laboratory with proven track record of fire assay, sample preparation, classical wet chemistry, ICP-OES and good understanding of ISO17025 system implementation
- Grade 12 (with Maths, Chemistry and Science)
- Analytical Chemistry Diploma or other appropriate Tertiary Qualification added advantage
- Highly proficient in English (Verbal and written)
