Job Summary
The Lead DevOps Engineer will play a critical role in designing, building, and continuously improving our cloud infrastructure and developer experiences and operations. This role requires strong technical expertise in Kubernetes on AWS, infrastructure as code with Terraform and configuration management with tools such as Puppet and Ansible. The successful candidate will work closely in agile methodologies with cross functional teams of data engineers, software engineers, data scientists and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless deployment, scaling and maintenance of our systems.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver our cloud infrastructure strategy
- Design, implement, and manage our infrastructure and deployment processes to ensure they meet developer needs
- Automate as much of our infrastructure and deployment processes as possible
- Acts as a centre of excellence for platform engineering
- Monitor our infrastructure and applications for performance and availability
- Troubleshoot and resolve any problems that arise with our infrastructure or applications
- Maintaining and delivering a continuous improvement plan
- Stay up-to-date on the latest DevOps technologies and best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE or platform engineering role
- Deep understanding of AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Puppet/Ansible
- Experience in leading a DevOps function
- Experience in automating infrastructure and deployment processes
- Experience in monitoring and troubleshooting infrastructure and applications
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Kubernetes certification (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator - CKA).
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
- Linux certifications (e.g., Linux Professional Institute Certification - LPIC).
- Experience with delivery of a SaaS product
- Strong understanding of security best practices
