JB236: Lead DrillerLocation: MaidstoneSalary: 35, 000 40, 000 per annumOverview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Lead Driller on behalf of one of our clients.As a Lead Driller you will manage and oversee a windowless sampler drilling rig. You will be required to efficiently carry out all assigned duties in a timely and professional manner.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities for the Lead Driller:- To lead the safe operation of a ground investigation windowless sampler drilling rig.
- Responsible for the correct supervision and safety of your assistant driller.
- On-site logging of soil samples to BS5930/Eurocode 7.
- Comply with site-specific Health and Safety policies.
- Liaise with our clients site agents, supervisors, engineers etc. with regards to daily schedules of work, access arrangements and services required.
- Ensure all drill work is delivered safely and efficiently whilst maintaining high quality standards.
- On completion of work, tidy all equipment, wash down and conduct necessary maintenance.
- Assist with the careful storage of equipment, carry out repairs, wash vehicle and rig and order any required equipment.
- Produce site records including, but not limited to; daily logs, pre-start rig checks, risk assessments and logging / site reports etc.
- Conduct regular audits on equipment and materials, proactively managing requirements of the function.
- Occasionally responsible for technician duties; foundation exposures, hand pits and soakaway tests.
Skills And Qualifications For The Lead Driller- Full UK driving licence (with B + E towing).
- NVQ 2 Land Drilling.
- CSCS card.
- Minimum of 3 years drilling experience in the construction industry.
- Demonstrate an understanding of various site- based drilling techniques.
- Familiar with Geo-technical / Geo- environmental aspects of site investigation.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to use and operate rigs and machinery.
- Proven ability of understanding site or project specifications and instructions.
- Excellent communication and people management skills.
- Dedicated approach to health and safety.
- Ability to work to deadline.
- Demonstrated ability to overcome challenges.
Desirable For The Lead Driller- SSSTS.
- First aid.
- Equip Geotech Foundation Course.
- Cat & genny training.
- Asbestos awareness training.
- Additional health & safety qualification(s).
- Lead driller experience.
- Experience working within UK Ground Investigation Industry.
- Experienced in carrying out regular inspections and audits of equipment and machinery.
