Job Description: The incumbent will be responsible for installation and maintenance
of electrical infrastructure and will be required to maintain various plant and
project installations according to sound engineering practice and equipment
specifications.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
1.Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repairs to equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements
- Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act
regulations, manufacturing and Company standards
3.Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman
- Develop, modify, construct/fabricate and install related equipment required, for the safe operation of all engineering equipment.
5.Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure
6.Communicate with clients and supervisors on maintenance activities performed and equipment handover
7.Required to work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any
observations of this not being done
8.Ensure personal and co-workers’ adherence and compliance to Security and
Company’s SHE objectives
9.Work overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise
Minimum Requirements:
1.Qualified Electrician with Trade Certificate at recognized /accredited
institution**
2.Valid Public Driver’s License Code EB (08)
3.5 years’ experience as an Electrician in a plant/project environment
- At least 3 years’ experience in the maintenance and operation of MV switchgear and distribution transformers
- At least 3 years’ experience in MV switching with valid ORHVS certificate
6.Knowledge of basic protection schemes and metering systems
7.Should have proven ability to understand MV panel control wiring circuit
Diagrams
- Ability to do fault finding on MV control panel should be seen as major
advantage
9.PC Literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel,PowerPoint) and Windows System
** Candidates holding a QCTO (Section 26D) Trade Test, where the learning route is not specified on the Certificate, must submit the following: Statement of results issued by an accredited MQA trade test centre as well as evidence of training conducted at a technical training centre (e.g. Portfolio of Evidence, Logbooks)
