To facilitate and administer the learning and teaching process for students in modules presented by the Nelson Mandela University at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. To participate in and contribute to research and innovation; postgraduate student supervision, contribute to community, discipline and professional engagement; and be involved in the core functions of the University.
Lecture subjects at UG and PG level including but not limited Electronics, Digital Electronics, Microprocessors, Electrical Machine Design, Power Electronics, Machine Design, Mechanical Design, Material Science, Engineering Drawings, and Strength of Materials.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Facilitate the learning and teaching programmes, processes and outcomes of the department.
- Participate in and conduct to publishing of research and innovation.
- Supervise postgraduates students and projects.
- Perform academic, community and discipline engagement.
- Perform administration.
- Contribute to quality of the programmes and programme reviews.
- Ensure that delivery of the modules comply with professional body requirements and participate and professional body accreditation processes and visits.
- In depth knowledge of the theory and application in the relevant discipline.
- Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate level and potential to contribute at postgraduate level.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Have contributed or have the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of published research and involvement in relevant engagement activities.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Associate lecturer:
A minimum of 1 year relevant and/ or related working experience.
- Lecturer: Masters in Engineering (Mechatronics / Electrical / Mechanical) with 2 years relevant and/ or related working experience. Or BEng or BSc in Engineering (Mechatronics / Electrical / Mechanical), with 3 years relevant and/or related work experience with ECSA registration or eligible and committed to register within 12 months. All positions: Eligibility to register within a period of one year for the position of Lecturer, OR eligibility to register within a period of three years for the position of Associate Lecturer. All positions: Appointed members must commit to register for and complete a further qualification AL register for Masters qualification; Lecturer with a BEng or BSc must register for Masters and subsequently for a Doctorate.
