LECTURER (ONE POST)

Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Teaching in and coordinating the following module offered by the Department of Public Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, which involve taking a contextual and transformative approach:
- International Environmental Law;
- Conducting academic scholarly research;
- Engaging with the community through teaching, supervision and research that is embedded in and responsive to the South African, African and global context;
- Having an in-depth understanding of own area of specialisation to enable development of new knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field;
- Supervising masters students;
- Mentoring students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Academic administration and management;
- Performing other duties as delegated by Head of the Department.
Lecturer:
- LLM in the discipline of International Environmental Law;
- Evidence of community engagement being embedded in the candidate's research and/or teaching;
- Relevant tertiary teaching experience will be a strong recommendation;
- Relevant academic administration experience will be a strong recommendation;

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team;
- Appropriate communication skills;
- Ability to plan and initiate discipline-related research.
- Some experience in online teaching and learning;
- Evidence of scholarly writing in the field or related field;
- Progress towards a doctoral degree in the field of international environmental law.
