LECTURER IN PSYCHOLOGY (ONE POST)

Responsibilities
The incumbent will be expected to:
- Engage in teaching, curriculum development, and co-ordination of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Supervise postgraduate research commensurate with the post level;
- Supervise practical work in the MA (Clinical Psychology) programme, commensurate with the post level;
- Conduct research commensurate with the level of appointment and actively contribute to the Departments research profile;
- Perform various academic and administrative duties as determined by the Head of Department;
- Participate in the Departments strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research and community engagement;
- Contribute to transdisciplinary engagements in teaching and research.
- A Masters degree in Clinical Psychology;
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist;
- Evidence of research productivity (e.g., conference presentations; publications in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent; s ignificant progress in PhD studies).
- Professional practice experience as a Clinical Psychologist;
- Ability to train student psychologists;
- Ability to lecture in at least two, but preferably more, of the following areas on undergraduate level: introductory psychology, biological psychology, cognitive psychology, psychological assessment, social psychology, developmental psychology, psychopathology, community psychology, critical psychology;
- Demonstrated research focus, preferably aligned with departmental thematic areas.
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist for three years or more;
- Experience in lecturing at the undergraduate level;
- Experience in lecturing or professional training at the postgraduate (MA) level;
- Ability to lecture and supervise student psychologists in psychological assessment and psychometric testing;
- Ability to lecture student psychologists on psychodynamic and/or narrative psychotherapy;
- A doctoral degree.
