Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Lecture of text- and Sociolinguistics modules, both in undergraduate programs and on honours level. The candidate will be expected to contribute to research and provide post-graduate supervision

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaching and learning for contact and distance learning students in the subject Afrikaans (Text- and Sociolinguistics).
  • Personal Research, Innovation and/or Creative Output.
  • Social Responsiveness and Industry Involvement.
  • Programme development.
  • Teaching practice assessments.
  • Higher Degree Supervision.
  • Administration and other activities.
Minimum Requirements
  • A Master of Arts/Master of Education inAfrikaans Linguistics and Methodology.(NQF level 9)
  • A Professional teaching qualification in Afrikaans language education. (NQF level 7
  • A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in Primary or Secondary school.
Added Advantage
  • Registered with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
Functional / Technical Competencies (Knowledge And Skills)
  • Competency in linguistics and methodology.
  • ICT competence and research expertise.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
Key Behavioural Competencies
  • Critical thinking skills, the ability to handle conflict and the ability to function creatively and innovatively.
  • The ability to function within a team.
REMUNERATION

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
