LECTURER / Senior lecturer (ONE POSITION)

Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Presenting lectures to undergraduate students in Animal Science modules;
- Contributing to the Institutional research theme on Animal Anatomy and Production Animal Physiology.
Lecturer:
- MSc(Agric) in Animal Science or BVSc specializing in Functional animal anatomy and production animal physiology as well as registered for a PhD or intent to register during the first year of employment;
- Professional registration with SACNASP/SA Veterinary Society;
- Lecturing experience in the specific disciplines at undergraduate level;
- Research output skills and/or a proven record of research publications in accredited journals as appropriate for the relevant level of appointment, specifically in the field of functional animal anatomy, growth physiology, and or meat science of production animals.
- A PhD in Animal Sciences or BVSc MMedVet or MSc in Veterinary Science specializing in Functional animal anatomy and production physiology;
- Professional registration with SACNASP/SA Veterinary Society;
- At least five years applicable practical, teaching experience at undergraduate level;
- Evidence of completed post graduate supervision;
- Research skills and a proven record of research publications in accredited journals as appropriate for the relevant level of appointment, specifically in the field of functional anatomy, and production and/or reproduction physiology;
- Experience in presenting short courses in production animal physiology and or meat science;
- Procure and manage research funds.
- Proficient in English with the ability to function effectively in a multi-lingual environment;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Conflict management skills.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbents level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
