Minimum Requirements
- LLB Degree
- Retail environment background advantageous
- 3 to 4 years' experience as a corporate legal advisor
- Fully bilingual in both English and Afrikaans
Management of Legal Risks & Compliance
- Mitigate risks and identify risks associated with proposed transactions, projects and activities that the business intends to undertake.
- Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business such as required licences and certificates.
- Provide a clear record and ensure timely renewal of relevant legal agreements, business licences and certificates.
- Proactively monitor the regulatory statutory requirements with various Licences and requirements for the Business to be compliant and operational.
- Assist in structuring, negotiating & drafting legal agreements and documentation.
- Give legal advice on transactions or deals to be done, or transactions that have been concluded.
- Conduct legal due diligence on transactions.
- Negotiate, draft and review agreements for Mergers and Acquisitions.
- Oversee and ensure registration of any Property Law matters.
- Liaise and provide instructions to Labour Consultant.
- Drafting and enforcing Employment Contracts.
- Drafting and enforcing warnings and Disciplinary Notices and Enquiries.
- Briefing Labour consultants and or attorneys for CCMA matters.
- To provide support, and opinions on Litigation matters and briefing Attorneys or Advocates.
- Proactively resolves disputes and liaises with the CFR when necessary.
- Identify and Communicate current and anticipated Legal issues/risks.
- Manage external counsel where required.
- Debt Collection matters: issuing letters of Demand and overseeing action procedures to follow.
