The Position
As our Legal Manager you will hold overall accountabilities for all Legal, Ethics & Compliance matters in CDC South Africa, providing proactive legal and compliance support, advice, training and risk assessment, in compliance with Novo Nordisk policies and external laws and regulations. You will support the affiliate in Personal Data protection issue in accordance with POPIA and corporate rules. You will also support the affiliate in general legal issues like third party representatives and contract drafting and negotiation.
This role is based in Johannesburg, and directly reports to Director, Legal, Ethics and Compliance, South Africa and indirectly reports to Director of CDC, South Africa.
Your Key Accountabilities Will Be
- Support CDC South Africa priorities and manage all Legal, Ethics and Compliance matters in CDC South Africa through strategic, pragmatic and proactive advice
- Develop a close relationship with global, SEEMEA (Southeast Europe, Middle East and Africa) and BAMEAC (Business Area Middle East, Africa and CIS) levels in topics related to the position and participate in internal networks related to clinical trials, privacy, and general legal issues.
- Represent CDC South Africa in various SEEMEA, IO (International Operation) and legal and compliance forums and networks related to clinical trials
- Support the local LDDR (Local Due Diligence Responsibilities) in having the necessary standards regarding Third Party Representatives.
- Maintain a high standard overview regarding local contracts in accordance to local and corporate standards.
Qualification
As our Legal Manager you need to have extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical and clinical trials regulation and clinical trials business as well as experience with Business Ethics and Compliance in pharmaceutical or medical device industry (including codes of conduct, FCPA and UK Anti-bribery Act)
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Law Degree from University Law School.
- Experience as qualified lawyer (minimum 5+ years legal experience with at least 2 years in the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry).
- Postgraduate studies related to health or pharma law will be an asset.
- Membership of the applicable legal bar/law society is desired.
