Overview
Providing legal advice to the Company and consequently draft and review relevant legal documentation.
The role will be based in Midrand, South Africa.
Role Responsibilities
As a Legal Counsel, you will be able to:
- Independently manage the contracts database including, but not limited to, negotiating, auditing, renewing and reporting on lease agreements
- Negotiating and drafting a wide range of agreements including service level agreements, supplier agreements and facility agreements
- Providing hands-on legal advice and internal training to other departments
- Assisting with company secretarial matters, drafting of resolutions, taking of minutes and managing compliance
- Arrange board meetings and preparing board documents package
- Deal with litigation and other disputes with landlords, suppliers and third parties
- Instructing and liaising with external counsel
- Assisting the Head of Legal with a wide range of other day-to-day legal tasks including periodic reporting and maintenance of the legal registers
- Preparing, receiving and following up on Merger and Acquisition documentation
- Reviewing and summarising key contracts to be used by other departments, including pricing, procedures and risks
- Conducting due diligence process and other legal matters regarding Mergers and Acquisitions
- Reviewing new legislation and obtaining legal advice on compliance as and when instructed
- Managing and supporting the Head of Legal with compliance champion duties
To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:
Bachelors qualification (LLB, B.Com Law)
5 years post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law
Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa
