Overview
Independently reviewing, drafting and advising on letters and contracts. Assistance to the Head of Legal and performing company secretarial duties.
Role Responsibilities
As a Legal Counsel, you will be able to:
- Independently manage the contracts database including (but not limited to) negotiating, auditing, renewing and reporting on lease agreements
- Negotiating and drafting a wide range of agreements such as (but not limited to) service level agreements, supplier agreements and facility agreements
- Providing hands-on legal advice and internal training to other departments
- Assisting with company secretarial matters, drafting of resolutions, taking of minutes and managing compliance
- Deal with litigation and other disputes with landlords, suppliers and third parties
- Instructing and liaising with external counsel
- Assisting the Head of Legal with a wide range of other day-to-day legal tasks including periodic reporting and maintenance of the legal registers
To succeed in the role, you will be/will have:
- Bachelors qualification (LLB, BCom Law)
- Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience focused on corporate and commercial at a full service law firm and/or in-house at a reputable corporate
- South African citizen with a valid ID book/card
- No criminal record
- Fluency in English
