A senior Linux technician position is available in the Durban. Icon Information Systems (Pty) Ltd, (ICONIS) is seeking candidates in the IT Network Management space. Job requirements:
- We are looking for someone with strong experience in Administration, leadership characteristics, self-motivated and a high sense of urgency and a team player.
- The day to day support and maintenance of all current and future servers Linux and Windows based. Building, installing and testing of new servers and services.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience overall Linux and Scripting experience is essential.
- Expert in system administration under Linux and must be able to administer and support servers without supervision.
- Skill must include the ability to automate administration tasks using scripting as appropriate required.
- Redhat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Self-motivated and self-managing
- Sound people skills, phone ethics, email etiquette.
- Solid understanding of the Internet (DNS / FTP / Mail / IIS / HTTP / SSL etc.)
- Experience with Linux systems; Debian, Red Hat, CentOS.
- Previous systems administration experience
- Sound networking, routing and firewall skills
- Create and maintain scripts written in various programming languages (e.g.: PHP, Bash, Perl and SQL).
- Advanced Linux Networking, RADIUS, CentOS, Apache, PHP, PostgreSQL, Virtualization: Xen, Docker, DNS Server, TCP/IP
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and share knowledge.
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Ability to understand and implement/ administer complex methodologies
- Strong back-up and recovery skills
- Able to read, understand and create system diagrams
- Knowledge of infrastructure standards and methodologies
- Up-to-date knowledge of various third party software and hardware products and platforms for information systems.
- Advanced understanding of Linux server environments
- Advanced understanding of database server and database applications
- Advanced understanding of Networking and network security principles
