A small law firm based in Milnerton is looking to appoint a motivated and competent legal secretary (Litigation and Commercial).
Job requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 Certificate.
- Own transport.
- Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel).
- The candidate must be able to speak, read and understand the English language.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 1-2 years’ working experience in a law firm.
- Must have a good understanding of the legal process and documents, as well as commercial contracts.
- The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator who is hardworking, motivated and confident.
- Be honest, reliable and always willing to go the extra mile, including overtime if need be.
- Possess strong planning and organizational skills; excellent time management abilities and be able to complete tasks at the highest standards of quality in a precise and accurate manner.
- Be able to work independently but also function effectively as part of a team.
- The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- It will be required from the successful candidate to perform other administrative and secretarial functions from time to time.
- Document review and proof reading will be advantageous.
Job responsibilities:
- General office administration.
- Formatting of briefs, pleadings and other legal documents and notices.
- Typing and transcribing of dictations.
- Corresponding with clients.
- Diary management.
- Running of errands, filing and serving papers at court
- The successful candidate will be required to work for a 3 month fixed-term contract, whereafter a decision regarding full-time employment will be made.
- Office hours: 08h30 - 16h30
- Salary: Competitive and related to experience and qualifications.
