The CAX VDI Engineer (Advanced) is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions in a hybrid cloud environment. The role involves driving VDI automation, maintaining high-performance computing tools, and collaborating with global teams to ensure stability, performance, and scalability of VDI systems. Additionally, the engineer will manage complex application architectures, support cloud migration efforts, and maintain compliance with ITIL processes. Essential Skills Requirements:
- Proficiency in Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket/GitHub
- Experience with Unix, Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu), and Windows
- Knowledge of mounting technologies (Autofs, DFS)
- Familiarity with protocols such as NFS and CIFS
- Experience with agile working and methodologies like Scrum
- Proficiency in Virtualization technologies like VMWare Horizon/ESXi/Cloud Foundation
- Understanding of Agile team roles (Feature Team, Scrum Master, Product Owner, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Additional responsibilities under the Agile Working Model (AWM) Charter
- Knowledge of the Agile Working Model (AWM) Framework and roles
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and team management
- Experience migrating complex VDI environments
- Expertise with LINUX RedHat/Ubuntu in virtualized, high-performance configurations
- Familiarity with storage technologies like EMC and NetApp
- Proficiency in systems management (e.g., scVENUS, Ansible)
- Knowledge of Ansible Tower and playbook design/deployment
- Understanding of Public Cloud (Azure, AWS) and Private Cloud solutions
- Experience with handling sensitive data, ensuring confidentiality
- Knowledge of Directory Access Manager (DIVA) and iStore
- Basic understanding of Active Directory/LDAP and ServiceNow (ITSM.next)
- Proficient in ITIL processes and ITSM Suite
- Experience in managing decentralized international teams
- Programming knowledge in Java, Python, and Perl
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience
- ITIL certification (advantageous)
- Scrum certification (advantageous)
- Minimum 4 years of IT operations experience, including ITIL
- Minimum 3 years of storage experience
- Minimum 3 years of Scrum work experience
- Minimum 3 years of VDI and operating systems experience
- Minimum 2 years of managing service provider topics
- Understand complex application architecture and its impact on VDI environments
- Design VDI solutions to meet business requirements
- Develop Ansible playbooks for VDI deployment in hybrid cloud environments
- Manage VDI operations and maintenance in hybrid cloud architectures
- Drive VDI automation initiatives (deployment, resource management)
- Design specific engineering roles for VDIs
- Consult on global resource demands and design optimal VDI solutions
- Drive VDI cloud strategy and ensure modern architectural design
- Perform housekeeping, monitoring, and management of VDI platforms for performance and cost optimization
- Define self-service requests in ServiceNow for VDI-related needs
- Report and forecast VDI demands based on user and platform requirements
- Provide support for cloud migration requests focusing on VDIs
- Manage Problem, Incident, and Change processes within ITSM services
- Operate and maintain scripts, and keep documentation up to date in relevant systems
- Coordinate with external contractors and manage feedback/timelines for service providers
- Address security vulnerabilities and moderate operation meetings
