Logistics Manager

  • Ensure optimum logistical performance
  • Ensure the highest customer satisfaction
  • Compile, implement and maintain procedures to ensure uniform operations
  • Identify, introduce and monitor key performance indicators
  • Report the status of the Logistics Department to the directorate
  • Compile the financial and capex budgets for Logistics.
  • Manage and monitor expenses against these budgets Propose reward for merit and discipline for in-efficiency
Job Requirements
  • 3 year Degree in Supply Chain Management/ Purchasing/ Logistics
  • Minimum 5 years experience in supply chain/logistics environment
  • Minimum 3 years experience with MPS/MRP (preferably Navision & SAP)
  • Minimum 3 years exposure to a purchasing environment
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
Knowledge Required
  • Knowledge and understanding of production processes Knowledge and understanding of supply chain functions Sound knowledge of MRPII
  • Knowledge of customer specific requirements in the automotive industry
  • Sound knowledge to use Excel spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of purchasing processes
Core Duties
  • Plan, manages and evaluate logistics operations.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transport companies and customers.
  • Monitor Cost, quality, quantity & delivery times.
  • Negotiates rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers.
  • Resolve all queries pertaining to transportation, logistics systems, imports/exports and customer complaints.
  • Ensures the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the support of the logistics team.
  • Keeps track of slow moving and obsolete stock.
  • Ensures logistics performance metrics and reports are available.
  • Report on the achievement of targets and identify action plans if required.
  • Takes responsibility of the department budget and targets.
  • Ensures compliance with Import/Export regulations, customs regulations and legal and health and safety requirements.
  • Conducts review of environmental audits for logistics activities.
