Transportation Activities
Liaise with customers regarding load and special requirements.
Ensure required resources (Human & Vehicles) are available and valid.
Ensure fleet is being operated in an efficient and profitable manner.
Ensure requirements of the Quality Management system are implemented and adhered to.
Liaise with Fleet Manager on availability of vehicles, breakdowns and road worthiness.
Investigate customer complaints related to transportation and delivery and register the in the SHEQ Management System and dealt with as soon as possible.
Liaise with other controllers when leaving the office to ensure availability at all times.
Process or arrange customer orders for load, schedule loads & vehicles and monitor progress with the assistance of the Logistics Controller.
Ensure CTrack system is utilised to monitor drivers' behaviour and compliance with designated routes.
BBS - Behaviour Based Safety
Ensure loads are scheduled in a cost effective manner to prevent financial losses for Chemical Logistics.
Arrange drivers for collection of Raw materials from nominated suppliers.
Supervision Of Personnel
Identify training and development needs for personnel.
Performance management of personnel.
Ensure sufficient human resources are available at all times.
Ensure employees are trained on, safety, health, environment, quality and human resource policies and procedures applicable to their work.
Recruit new employees in accordance with the relevant Human Resources Procedures.
Evaluate the competency of new drivers in accordance with the relevant Human Resources Policy prior to employment.
Manage the working hours of logistics personnel and ensure their hours worked are submitted to the accounts department for payment.
Enforce company Human Resource Policies and Procedures in your department.
Safety, Health & Environment
Ensure requirements of the SHE system are implemented and adhered to.
Report and investigate all incidents that involve any personnel and vehicles under your control.
Ensure that the requirements for the transportation of dangerous goods are adhered to at all times.
Ensure all vehicles carry the required safety and emergency equipment and that drivers are conversant in the use of this equipment.
Generate maintenance schedules for vehicles and ensure the required records are completed as per the SHE System procedures.
Financial And Administrative Controls
Ensure all Delivery Notes and associated paperwork is collected from the drivers and collated accordingly.
Liaise with Investchem Accounts Department to ensure that all work is invoiced timeously.
Follow-up with all Debtors and ensure that the Age Analysis is monitored and managed, providing feedback to senior management.
