The leader in the building material’s industry is currently seeking to employ a logistics/transport manager.
Job requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Relevant Tertiary qualification (Logistics degree will be an advantage).
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position & industry.
- Experience in timber / building materials industry – advantageous.
- Experience in the construction industry will be required.
- Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Computer literate.
Job responsibilities:
- This position will be responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organization.
- Create policies and procedures for logistics activities.
- Recommend optimal transportation routing, equipment and frequency.
- Responsible for management of route performance, route planning, and overall cost reduction.
- Manage total distribution function.
- Tracking of vehicles and shift roster transport requests.
- Effective cost control of Logistics department.
- Management of the repairs and maintenance for the vehicle fleet.
- Negotiate and network to ensure new business ventures regarding transport.
- Facilitation and reconciliation of company’s motor vehicle insurance claims.
- Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
