The position entails arranging and coordinating the flow of imported items (finished goods, Leaf, NTMs) to meet the requirements of internal and external customers while adhering to all rules and regulations.
You will support efficient business processes, lead, and constantly improves the procedures involved with the importation, clearance, and transportation from port of finished items, spare parts, raw materials, and marketing tools.
Working with internal and external customers you will enable shipment arrivals, ensuring adequate product availability in the required locations while following to pre-determined critical metrics (days of inventory, cost).
You will also be in charge of supplying information to inform the inbound logistics budgets, as well as tracking and reporting on variations.
Responsible for import logistics and distribution you will employ cutting-edge technology to achieve best-in-class results.
Your day to day
Strategy Development & Execution
- Identify possibilities to develop and optimize import logistics, storage, and distribution strategies while optimizing cost savings and service levels.
- Ensure roll-out and implementation in order to achieve exceptional service levels, reduction in lead times, and optimal operating costs or working capital use.
- Stay up to date on current developments in the supply chain area and support the adoption of best-in-class standards to improve overall performance, encourage synergies and knowledge sharing with other affiliates and regional/central functions.
- Lead and direct the importation, transportation, and storage activities for Spare Parts and Finished Goods in order to provide an optimal and cost-effective flow of products between port, on-site, off-site warehouses, and bonded facilities, thereby chipping in to the achievement of the business's objectives.
- Responsible for implementing the right network and information in order to provide the finest logistics service to clients.
- Plan and organize inventory requirements for all imported FG categories, as well as maintain the Bond register for all bonded finished goods, both onsite and offsite at the Customs warehouse.
- Plan, lead, and coordinate the actions of third parties while maintaining quality, safety, and security standards.
- Ensure adherence to PMI policies and procedures while staying current on all local and international legislation and regulations.
- Create and implement programs to ensure compliance with customs and PMI rules. Conduct risk assessments on a regular basis and create mitigating action plans. To avoid serious consequences, increase and inform PM management of any potential risk or exposure.
- Run the customs broker's activities in compliance with contractual, operational, legal, and best practice standards, including regular performance evaluations.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with the PMI Indirect Taxation Team.
- Inventory management ensure the availability of bonded stock (cigarettes and HEETS) in free circulation by maintaining inventory levels in bonded warehouses and inventory coverage in sales warehouses, while monitoring and handling the impact on cost, net working capital (NWC), and days of inventory (DOI).
- Ensuring that commodities are available in sufficient quantities and on time to enhance service while reducing inventory and LOGD.
- Mastery of current and future tools and technology
- Ensure that all 3PL Service Provider operations are in accordance with the contracts and in accordance with local and international legislations / laws, as well as PMI policies & procedures
- Preparation, deployment, and utilization of PMI standard operating guidelines and systems in collaboration with COE, considering the nature of each type of product transported and stored; to ensure their quality, EHS&S precautions are taken and are in accordance with local legislations / regulations.
- Create and implement standard operating procedures, operational guidelines, and systems.
- Ensure that all documentation and system transactions are completed appropriately and on schedule. Control the timely and proper submission of statutory documents required for customs clearance procedure application, extension, and closure in order to maximize benefits for the organization and avoid any compliance difficulties.
- Actively participate in or start improvement programs; review, analyze, and implement solutions in order to improve service levels to customers (internal and external) at the lowest possible cost.
- Take the lead in developing, testing, and pitching new opportunities, and ensure that they are shared across PM.
- Provide shipping cost information to Finance for budgeting purposes.
- Monthly reporting, actions to resolve, and cost management for all shipping-related costs, including demurrage and detention.
- Provide support with export processes and communicate with Clearing and Forwarding agent/s.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or supply chain management
- 3-5 years of inbound logistics experience in the FMCG or clearing and forwarding industries.
- Proven experience in the excise / customs-controlled category
- Strong negotiation skills
- Self-motivated, with the ability to take the lead, manage many difficulties, and operate in an agile way
- Working understanding of SAP
- Advanced Excel proficiency
