Macmillan Cancer and Palliative Care Senior Specialist Nurse

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join our technical services team to lead and manage our pharmacy distribution service. In this post, you will manage our responsive medicines storage and supply service and contribute to the ongoing review and strategic development of this service, including responsibility for innovating and implementing service development initiatives.

We are looking for an experienced and flexible pharmacy technician with strong leadership skills to develop the service and take it to the next level. You will be jointly responsible for managing, supporting and facilitating the training and professional development of our team of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff.

You must be a GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, who is able to work independently and effectively as part of a team. You will have experience in leadership and managing change, excellent working knowledge of Good Distribution Practice and be proficient in the use of IT systems.

The Scottish Highlands offer a great opportunity for a very good work and life balance, with a range of fantastic outdoor adventures and indoor activity options throughout all seasons. Inverness benefits from excellent transport links with the rest of the country and beyond, regular train services and several daily flights from Inverness Airport.

There has been significant investment in pharmacy services in NHS Highland. We introduced robotics in 2021 and HEPMA is currently being rolled out across the board with 2 sites have gone live already and active planning in place for other sites. The Highlands and Islands Pharmacy Research and Education Centre is also on site.

You will be required to participate in public holiday rotas and occasional weekend work relating to the supply of pharmaceuticals as required.

For an informal discussion relating to any aspect of the post or if you wish to arrange a visit please contact Dave Dunn, Lead Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacologistics and IT Systems, david.dunn@nhs.scot
