ENVIRONMENT:

BE responsible for all Procurement pertaining to the Maintenance Department, which may cover parts, services, materials and supplies as the next Maintenance Buyer sought by a dynamic & family-owned Agricultural business in Joburg. You will ensure the Procurement strategy and Stores and Inventory strategies are aligned and being executed to the highest standard to fulfil the needs of the Strategic Asset Management Plan. You will be required to ensure efficient operations, cost effectiveness and the highest quality standards within the Maintenance Department, whilst adhering to all Legislative regulations. Applicants need Matric/Grade 12, any suitable higher institution Certification, 5-10 years of Procurement work experience, particularly in the Agri industry or related fields with a strong understanding of maintenance equipment, machinery and materials, with particular reference to the Agri-sector.

DUTIES:

Supervisory -
  • Manage the Job Co-ordinators output and planning of all tasks and scheduling.
Roles and Responsibilities -
  • Report to the Strategic Maintenance Manager, maintaining open communication and disclosure of the conditions, operations, and needs of the functions that fall within the scope of the procurement function, through concise and timeous reports.
  • Develop platforms to support strong lines of communication and engagement with the Job Co-ordinator and other departments in the value chain, to build a culture of trust between these departments and the Maintenance Department.
  • Develop short, medium and long-term goals, and drive performance within their team to achieve these goals.
  • Manage all resource inventories, ensuring business continuity whilst constantly ensuring best cost modelling on inputs whilst researching potential suppliers, evaluating their offerings, and negotiating prices and contracts.
  • Manage equipment purchases, ensuring proper delivery and installation.
  • Purchase supplies required for maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the testing of new products to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain an inventory of machinery parts and other materials.
  • Prepare purchase orders and invoices and update the CMMS where necessary.
  • Control costs related to supplies and materials and inspect materials and products to ensure they meet specifications on delivery.
  • Motivate the employees to perform according to the performance standards, through good leadership and communication.
  • Ensure staff compliance to all necessary SOPs, regulations and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual departmental budget, covering all input and resource costs.
  • Manage monthly costs according to budget, and reports insight into variances to budget.
  • Ensure all administrative processes are followed across the departmental scope.
  • Ensure readiness for all Audits, and upkeep of all GMP and regulatory standards needed for compliance to standards required in the department.
  • Identify areas of improvement and modification in order to achieve better efficiencies across all assets.
  • Manage the procurement for the Maintenance team to ensure assets are maintained according to schedule, in order to reduce downtime.
  • Analyse OEE reports and perform RCA when assets are not operating at the optimum efficiencies.
  • Engage with the Strategic Maintenance Manager around CAPEX requirements and drive the outcomes of CAPEX projects that have been approved.
KPIs

Departmental Strategy:
  • To increase the Asset Life Cycle of all assets, through sound maintenance practices backed by solid procurement and planning activities, ensuring best pricing and highest efficiencies. Drive efficiencies through the deployment of novel and innovative ways of doing things differently.
KPI 1: Supplier on Time Delivery (OTIF):
  • Timely delivery of parts, spares and services ensures uninterrupted operations and minimises downtime. OTIF = (On time deliveries / Total deliveries) x 100%.
KPI 2: Supplier Scorecard and Purchase Price Variance:
  • Uphold and maintain the Supplier Scorecard, ensuring the actual price paid is below that of the standard or similar pricing on 2 other quotes. PPV = Actual price Standard price.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Matric equivalent and any higher institution Certification relevant.
  • 5-10 Years of Procurement experience, particularly in the Agri industry or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance equipment, machinery and materials, with particular reference to the Agri-sector.
  • Excellent professionalism skills, with a strong ability to negotiate.
  • Proficient Reporting skills.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organizations physical premises.
