Maintenance Manager (Contract)

Overview:

We are seeking a resilience and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee and manage maintenance operations in a challenging marine shipping environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems, processes, and operational management, preferably with consulting experience. This role requires a leader capable of maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and optimizing performance under demanding conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Operations Management 
  • Oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring the operational readiness and safety of all marine vessels and equipment. 
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, procedures, and standards to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and minimal disruption due to maintenance activities.
  • Manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting, procurement, and cost control.
Systems and Processes
  • Evaluate, design, and implement robust maintenance systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilise consulting experience to recommend and integrate best practices in maintenance management.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance maintenance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in maintenance technologies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager in a marine or similarly challenging environment or in the mining or oil and gas industry is an added advantage.
  • Strong background in systems, processes, and operational management.
  • Consulting experience in maintenance management or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of international maritime regulations and safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • This role involves working in a marine environment, requiring resilience and adaptability.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • You must be willing to relocate and work in Papua New Guinea.
  • This is a contract position.
