Deliver an effective maintenance service to Production. The formulation of strategic direction and
policy with reference to general plant maintenance, steam, ammonia/refrigeration, compressed air,
cold rooms, electrical generation and distribution facilities training and inspection as well as manage
the capital expenditure and the continuous improvement drive
Responsibilities
Manage branch building and services maintenance function, in line with the company's SHEQ
standards and overall objectives;
Ensure uninterrupted supply of energy and services to production
Ensure that a computerised asset management system are used, maintained to the best benefit of the company
The effective planning, co-ordinating and supervision of all maintenance and repairs to all
Plant Services, Including
- Electrical reticulation (MV & LV) & consumption
- General building maintenance
- Water services & consumption
- Boilers and steam reticulation & consumption - inspect coal quality
- Roads & perimeter fencing
- All refrigeration services
- Cold room racking
- Compressors and compressed air services/reticulation
- Factory ventilation
- Air conditioning services
- Production floors & drainage
- Storm water and sewerage lines
- Effluent plant
- Site ablution facilities
- Services workshop
- All legal certification, inspections, maintenance, documentation and training of
Daily monitoring of utility usage and actively driving utility savings projects. Identifying new
ideas and technologies to reduce utilities is a large portion of this positions responsibility.
Budget Management According To Company Guidelines
Optimise and reduce the maintenance cost
Manage and reduce the electrical, refrigeration, water, etc. consumption
Manage the maintenance fixed cost budget
Assist in managing the capex budget and drive Capex process for services
Organise services budget process and ensure budget approval
Manage Capex process for services
Determine, set and manage modifications and change management for services
Maintain Employee Safety
Drive legal compliance of equipment and facilities listed above
Establish safety practices in accordance with the OSHACT
Implement actions to reduce the environmental impact of the plant/facility
Create a safe and efficient working environment (SHE)
Establish a safety culture in services department
Ensure that all safety critical equipment's are maintained, serviced, inspected and
certificated where required
Ensure that all contractors/service providers are compliant with company procedures
Manage staff ;
Ensure optimal utilisation of staff
Apply consistent discipline
Train and develop staff
Conduct meetings and ensure effective communication to all
Establish continuous improvement practices
Liaise and communicate with management in all departments
Provide leadership and training to artisans.
Set objectives, manage and measure performance of subordinates
Requirements
Millwright with National Diploma (BTech will be advantageous but not compulsory)
Minimum 8 years experience with Services in a FMCG environment
Relevant experience in applying job related concepts, techniques and processes at the
required level
MV & LV Electrical reticulation and maintenance systems experience (Wiremans license will
be preferred)
Ammonia training on handling and maintenance experience
Coal Fired steam boilers training and maintenance experience
Strong knowledge related to OHSAct
Experience in working with senior management
Business English: Fluent
Computer literacy (Advanced)
Code 08 Driver's license (Own transport)
