Company Description:

Our client is a large boutique advisory firm specializing in business continuity management and GRC related advisory services. They are providing comprehensive consulting services to clients across various industries. Their team is dedicated to helping organizations build resilience and ensure the continuity of their critical business processes.

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Business Continuity Management Consultant to join their team on a fixed-term contract basis.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and review Business Continuity Management plans and recovery strategies in collaboration with client organizations.
• Review and draft Disaster Recovery (DR) and Back-up procedures documents to ensure alignment with industry best practices.
• Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and risk assessments to identify critical business processes and inform recovery strategies.
• Coordinate and conduct Business Continuity Planning (BCP) testing exercises to assess the effectiveness of recovery strategies and identify areas for improvement.
• Deliver awareness training sessions to promote a culture of business continuity within client organizations.
• Review, update, and enhance crisis response and communication plans to ensure effective response during disruptions.
• Plan and execute IT applications and general computer controls audits to assess the resilience of IT systems.
• Identify and facilitate Business Continuity Management (BCM) awareness and training initiatives to enhance organizational preparedness.
• Collaborate with internal teams and comply with IT audit requests, providing necessary information and reporting for monthly operational review.
• Perform IT risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation measures.
• Provide input into IT projects' steering committee meetings, ensuring alignment with business continuity objectives.
• Participate in IT disaster recovery test planning and review test results against predefined objectives, identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Information Systems, or Risk Management. Additional certifications in Business Continuity Management or related disciplines are highly desirable.
• Strong private sector experience/exposure (Advantageous)
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining Business Continuity Management programs within organizations.
• Strong knowledge of industry frameworks and standards such as ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34, and BCI Good Practice Guidelines.
• Experience in conducting Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and risk assessments to identify critical business processes and associated risks.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery and backup procedures, including the ability to review and draft related documents.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex situations and develop effective recovery strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of IT audit principles and experience in conducting IT applications and general computer controls audits.
• Proficiency in IT risk assessment methodologies and familiarity with IT governance frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work products.

Remuneration:

Estimated budgeted rate for this contract role is between R500 and R800 per hour depending on candidate experience.
