What You Can Expect
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing BASF Coatings Services strategic plan for South Africa, ensuring the most effective and efficient delivery of our objectives. This position will involve driving, coordinating, and leading the Business Units sales activities while being accountable for the overall performance and daily management of the company's operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing legal and compliance obligations for the legal entity.
- Negotiating product allocation for the sub-region and determining distribution across country clusters.
- Defining mid- and long-term targets for the Business Unit in South Africa.
- Ensuring profitability and market value for the Business Unit in South Africa.
- Coordinating and assessing the local customer portfolio and prioritization strategies.
- Designing local sales channels to optimize market reach.
- Driving and monitoring the implementation of the business strategy across South Africa.
- Setting and managing the Business Unit budget within the region.
- Representing the Business Unit to external stakeholders effectively.
- Providing operational and disciplinary leadership to directly assigned employees, focusing on personnel development and coaching.
- Implementing customer and market strategies to ensure agreed targets are met.
- Identifying market opportunities and introducing measures for their effective utilization in collaboration with Business Management.
- Coordinating planning and target agreement processes with relevant Business Management.
- Ensuring thorough documentation and analysis of market information, including market shares, customers, and competitors.
- Leading and overseeing all company activities, including Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, and others.
What You Offer
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership or managerial position
- Over 10 years of experience in commercial negotiation and managing commercial teams, prefera-bly within the automotive industry
- Previous experience as a Managing Director is a significant advantage
- Multi-cultural experience in the Sub-Region is a strong advantage
- Proven leadership experience that aligns with BASFs CORE values: Creative, Open, Responsible, and Entrepreneurial
