To support the production process with adequate levels of availability, operability (sustainedproduction rates) and reliability relating to the mechanical aspect of the production and all ancillaryequipment by ensuring that all engineering related breakdowns, problems and opportunitiesrelated to all equipment in the converting plant, are attended to in the shortest possible time andin the most effective and safest manner possible. Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that all work done on machinery, installations, lifting equipment etc complywith the OHS act and related regulations.
- To ensure all assigned planned maintenance completed for the month as per scheduledmaintenance plan.
- To ensure Mechanical availability of all equipment is greater than 95%.
- To ensure all equipment are inspected at the assigned intervals as determined by themaintenance manager.
- To ensure No reoccurring breakdowns and attend to breakdown within 45 minutes ofbeing called.
- TO perform fitting tasks as listed to acceptable engineering standards, with no reworkoccurring.
- To ensure Respond to request for non-breakdown type of work the same day that it wasrequested. (Not necessarily complete the task on the same day)
- To ensure work orders are created for all tasks are completed and handed in to themaintenance manager by the next working day, unless agreed otherwise withmaintenance manager.
- To ensure raptured labor hours is greater than 75% of normal paid hrs.
- To ensure Incidences are reported immediately for health and safety compliance
- To ensure work shop and work area is kept clean and equipment is maintained in a goodcondition at all times and comply with company and OHS act regulations.
- Grade 12, N3 to N5 in Mechanical field, with relevant trade papers.
- Mechanical fitting in a FMCG environment (preferably paper converting) with anemphasis on conveyors, packaging equipment, chain and belt drives, motors, gearboxes, installation of equipment, pumps, compressors, pneumatics, maintenance techniques, lubrication, machining, welding.
- Computer literacy.
- Have an above average knowledge of the production equipment, the operationand maintenance thereof.

- Fork truck license
The fitting experience will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Fitting and maintenance of shafts, keys, couplings, bearings, gears, clutches, pulleysand belts
- Marking, drilling, tapping and machining
- Pneumatic fault finding and repairs on systems and components
- Knowledge of lubrication practices
- Replace and repair defective parts on the machines If the job is physically demanding, this should be stated in the job description. A physically demanding job is one where theincumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on aregular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth.
